Abstract

The ruling by the Constitutional Court of Spain regarding the new Statute of Autonomy of Catalonia in 2010 has spurred the production, translation from Catalan—especially in English, Spanish, German and French—, and publishing of many pro-independence documents by the civil society of Catalonia. The documents are of different types and formats: tract, folder, leaflet, newspaper supplement, and book, on paper and/or electronic format, as well as website. The sum of those documents constitutes what we call the Catalan Pro-independence “Translation Campaign”, from which we draw a corpus composed of 21 documents. We will explore the selection criteria and the methodology used to identify the documents of the corpus, and expose the corpus constituted for a doctoral research. Finally, we will address the challenges posed by the absence of some original documents and the potential disappearance of online-only documents.
